The original 8 valve GTI offered here was originally sold in Holland with a sunroof, metallic paint and a 16V spoiler.

To give the car an even sportier and distinguished look, the current owner fitted lovely, perfect 15 inch BBS wheels that were a factory option.

The car stayed in Holland for 28 years, then came to Belgian where it was reccommisioned with a new petrol pump, battery, exhaust and tires. Apart from this it received major maintenance including replacement of the distribution belt.

The original bodywork is in good condition. Paintwork is largely original and very straight with some age related marks. It is still nice and shiny with no major scratching and no dents to speak of. The whole car exudes a very nice patina which a restored car can never have. Any rust there was has been professionally repaired in 2016. We can see no traces of accidents.

Mechanically the car had a service every year after the recommissioning in 2016. This GTI drives as it should with lots of torque from low revs and very smooth power delivery. The gearbox shifts well and the car stops in a safe way. Although 108 bhp might seem a bit meager in todays horsepower mad world, this car really lives up to its reputation as the hot hatch of the eighties with its 1800cc of non-turboed lungs. The pure driving sensation you get from this GTI makes you forget ESP, ABS and other technical wizardry in a jiffy.

Original sports seats in excellent condition confirm the fact that this car has been cared for and not thrashed. The rest of the upholstery is original too, except fort he headliner which has been renewed in 2016.

This GTI retains its original handbook and, more importantly, the original maintenance booklet which was stamped during nearly 20 years!

If you are looking for a good, original 8 valve GTI Mark 2 in a very nice spec then this could be the one!
